What Affects the Price of Coach Hire?
Every coach hire quote is different, because every trip is different. Here’s what makes the biggest difference, so you know what to expect before you ask for a quote.
- Distance. Fuel and wear on the vehicle are the biggest running costs, so a trip to the coast costs more than one across Leeds. The mileage includes getting the coach to you and back to our yard in Aberford.
- How Long You Need the Coach. The driver and vehicle are yours for the whole hire, including waiting time while you’re at your event. A short drop-off and collection is usually cheaper than a full day.
- Drivers’ Hours. Coach drivers have to follow strict legal limits on driving time, breaks and duty time. Most day trips fit comfortably inside these. Very long days, or trips with a late finish after an early start, may need a second driver or an overnight stop, and we’ll explain this in your quote. As a DVSA Earned Recognition operator, we take these rules seriously.
- Vehicle Size. Larger vehicles cost a little more to run, but the price per person usually drops as the group grows. We’ll always suggest the right size for your group, from our 48-seat coach to our 80-seat double-decker.
- Date and Time. Weekends in summer, the run-up to Christmas and big event days are our busiest times. Booking early gives you the best choice of vehicles.
- Overnight Trips. For trips of more than one day, the quote includes the driver’s accommodation. Some groups book this with their own hotel rooms.
